[synopsis]
A follow-up to the festival hit Among Brothers, John Schwerts second feature In/Significant Others is a multi-narrative drama that navigates through the different lives of one citys residents, each of whom is connected to the same local homicide investigation.
This ensemble cast of characters includes an Iraq War vet returned home to an emotionally disturbed wife, a new father living in the shadow of a successful brother, a sister caught up in a web of addiction, and a cameraman who attempts to exploit the reality behind all of their stories, or at least his version of them.
The search for truth becomes a life and death struggle as the subtle manipulation of all relationships is exposed.

Charlotte-based Feature Film In/Significant Others set for November 23rd DVD, VOD & Digital Release through Vanguard Cinema
(Charlotte, NC) Filmmaker John Schwert, who drew attention with his acclaimed first feature Among Brothers, secured a DVD, VOD and Digital Platform Release through Vanguard Cinema with his second feature film In/Significant Others set for November 23rd, 2010.
Vanguard is committed to releasing the type and quality of pictures that represent the true independent film community, explains Schwert. So Im really honored that we were able to work with them to get In/Significant Others out to the world through their array of home video and digital partners.
In/Significant Others premiered at the Boston Film Festival, where it won the top festival honors, and went on to screen at an additional 15 film festivals, winning the top awards at the Charlotte and Mammoth Film Festivals, as well as the Houston Worldfest. The feature film was released through Regal Theaters in May, 2010 and screened theatrically through Aperture Cinema in Winston-Salem, NC as well.
After pursuing a successful career in corporate marketing, Schwert produced, directed and financed his first feature Among Brothers with a second mortgage on his home. The film was based on the actual events surrounding the unsolved murder of a college student in 1994. Among Brothers went on to screen at 17 international film festivals and drew attention with a two-hour Dateline NBC special, subsequently pushing South Carolina Law Enforcement to re-open the unsolved case.
This new film, In/Significant Others, is a multi-narrative fictional drama that navigates through the different lives of one citys residents, each of whom is connected to the same murder investigation. The characters include an Iraq War vet returned home to an emotionally disturbed wife, a new father living in the shadow of a successful brother, a sister caught up in a web of addiction, and a cameraman who attempts to exploit the reality behind all of their stories. The cast and crew are entirely Carolina based.
North Carolina is fertile ground for the film industry, especially now with the 25% tax incentive says Schwert. It is much easier to get films made and to get things done here and there is no shortage of good cast and crew talent here either.
In/Significant Others is currently available for pre-orders on Amazon and Netflix and will available through Vanguards network of digital partners upon release. The DVD has over 80 minutes of special features, and includes a commentary track from Schwert and his team as well as a track from Los Angeles Film Critics Association members Wade Majors and Mark Keizer, courtesy of the IGN Digigods.
EBS World Entertainment is repping the film on the international sales front and will have it at the American Film Market this month and in foreign markets in 2011.
